The 2011 Honda CR-Z is a sporty-looking hybrid that aims to take the boredom out of the "green" car market. Looking at the CR-Z, you can tell that it has many aspects of a modern and classy small vehicle. It is appealing to all age groups, and Honda has done a great job of making this hybrid appear different than the average hybrid. It is available in two trims, the CR-Z and the CR-Z EX, with the choice of manual transmission or a continuously variable transmission.
The six-speed manual has a four-cylinder in-line engine that gets 122 horsepower and 128 pound feet of torque. The automatic continuously variable transmission gets 123 pound feet of torque. Fuel economy ratings are predicted at 35 mpg in the city and 39 mpg on the highway for the automatic transmission version. The manual gets 31 mpg in the city and 37 mpg on the highway.
This vehicle handles and brakes well in comparison to other hybrids. In sports mode, the CR-Z has tighter handling with quicker acceleration. But in the eco mode, the steering is less tight. In both modes, the steering is very precise and the handling is like a dream. Even though it looks like a sports car, it provides a more comfortable ride than you would imagine.
Keeping in tune with the sports design, the CR-Z only has two seats, but there is more than enough leg and head room for tall drivers and passengers. It has a price tag starting at $19,345. The 2011 CR-Z base model comes with tilt and telescopic steering wheel, cruise control, power door locks and windows, and a few other features. Moving up to the CR-Z EX, you will find more features, including a leather-wrapped steering wheel, hands-free Bluetooth technology, and a 360-watt audio system with a sub-woofer. The car contains 25.1 cubic feet of cargo space with a divider and a few handy storage compartments.
Safety features include front side airbags, side curtain airbags, tire pressure detection system, electronic brake distribution, brake assist, anti-lock brakes, and vehicle stability assist with traction control.
If you are looking for a small hybrid that is differnt from all the rest, the 2011 Honda CR-Z is what you need. The combination of style and economy make this vehicle an excellent choice.
